Daniele Orsato appointed as referee for Real Madrid vs Manchester City
Italian referee Daniele Orsato will be the man in charge this Wednesday as Manchester City travel to the Santiago Bernabeu for their semi-final second leg against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. The Blues hold a slim 4-3 lead after an instant classic at the Etihad in the first leg.
Daniele Orsato
Orsato has refereed City once this season already when Pep Guardiola's side ran out 2-1 winners at home against Paris Saint-Germain – a game in which City sealed their place into the round-of-16. The Italian did dish out three cards that game, but none were red.
Other big games he's been in charge of this season consist of PSG's 1-0 first leg home win against Real Madrid in the round-of-16 and Barcelona's 3-0 defeat against Benfica in the group stage where he distributed nine cards, including one red.
He does like to give out the cards – refereeing a total of 24 games in all competitions this season and, on average, awarding six cards per game. Additionally, he's given out four reds.
