Darren England appointed referee for Manchester City vs Brentford

Darren England is set to take charge of proceedings in Manchester City's midweek fixture against a struggling Brentford side. The game will be played on Wednesday 9th February, kicking off at 7:45 pm (GMT).

England takes charge of his second game involving the Premier League champions this season. The first was City's 4-1 FA Cup victory against Swindon Town, which saw England award City a penalty after Gabriel Jesus went down in the area. A penalty Jesus failed to convert after a very tame effort.

In his 9 games so far this Premier League season, the Englishman has dished out 38 yellow cards and one red card. He has also awarded penalties in more than 50% of his games this season, with a staggering 6 penalties thus far.

If England's trend of awarding penalties continues, City fans will be hoping for a better outcome than the last time; with Riyad Mahrez, the designated penalty taker, back from AFCON duties.
