Davide Massa appointed as referee for Sevilla vs Manchester City
After heartbreak in Madrid in last season's semi-final, Manchester City will again be fighting for the illustrious Champions League trophy. They face Spanish side Sevilla this Tuesday for their Group G opening game; the game is broadcasted live on BT Sport at 8 pm (BST). UEFA has appointed Davide Massa as referee.
Davide Massa
Born in Italy, Massa has only refereed once this season in Serie A, when Salernitana beat Sampdoria 4-0. The 41-year-old has, however, refereed twice in Europe so far this campaign. He took charge of qualifying matches between Monaco and PSV in the Champions League along with AEK Larnaca and SK Dnipro-1 in the Europa League.
Despite not dishing out any red cards this season in all competitions, he has awarded 25 yellow cards in five games so far, which includes two Serie B fixtures – one in which he handed out eight yellow cards.

Massa was involved with the refereeing team that oversaw the late disaster against Real Madrid in May; the Italian was the fourth official.
