Erling Haaland arrives in Manchester ahead of Man City unveiling

Erling Haaland arrived in Manchester at around 15:30 BST ahead of his unveiling as a new Manchester City player following his transfer from Borussia Dortmund on what is expected to be a five-year deal with the Premier League champions after they agreed to pay his £51million release clause.

It emerged via El Chiringuito TV this afternoon that Haaland had completed a medical checkup at Quiron Clinic and was leaving Barcelona for Manchester, with a number of fans accurately tracking the plane bringing the Nord to the North West of England soon after.

Paul Hirst and Pol Ballus in The Times would then confirm that Haaland was given a medical examination by Dr Ramon Cugat, who has notoriously been entrusted with the welfare of City players since Pep Guardiola took charge.

Despite the Norway international completing his initial medical in Brussels earlier this month, it is reported that Guardiola wanted Cugat to check on Haaland's fitness, given he has suffered a groin injury and hip flexor problem in the second half of the season.

The Times journalists have also revealed that the 21-year-old will have dinner in Manchester with club executives this evening, with pictures and an interview for the City website to take place at the club's facilities tomorrow. However, it is noted that the interview will likely be published next week.

The club have added two exciting young centre-forwards in Haaland and Julian Alvarez – and now have Kalvin Phillips on their radar to replace City legend Fernandinho, according to multiple sources. Brighton's Marc Cucurella is also under consideration for the left-back position.

Gabriel Jesus has been linked to moves with Arsenal and Tottenham and is also thought to be of interest to clubs in Serie A, with the Brazilian looking for regular game time, whilst title-hero Ilkay Gundogan confirmed at the club's trophy parade on Monday that he is looking forward to the final year of his contract with the Blues following speculation over a summer exit.
