Every summer transfer – Manchester City 2021/2022

Manchester City have had a relatively quiet transfer window in terms of incomings – away from the rumours and speculation – having landed Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for £100m, but not being successful in their pursuit of a striker after Sergio Aguero's departure, with Harry Kane not for sale as Daniel Levy held firm with his reluctance to sell, and interest in Cristiano Ronaldo only tentative.

City were, however, quite busy, as they always are, with City Football Group deals and academy dealings, with the likes of Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle completing loan moves and Lukas Nmecha and Jack Harrison completing permanent deals.

Here's everything we've managed to keep tabs on:

INCOMINGS

Kluiverth Aguilar: City actually agreed a deal to sign Aguilar from Alianza Lima in April 2020 when the right-back was 16, but the fullback was only to move once he had turned 18 in May of this year.

Kayky: City completed the signing of the exciting Brazilian forward from Fluminense for a reported £9million plus bonuses. It was initially expected that the 18-year-old would stay in Brazil until the end of the Brazilian season, but it was announced last week the winger would have his contract at Fluminense terminated in order to join City early and continue his development.

Dario Sarmiento: Estudiantes announced at the end of April that Sarmiento would be joining City on July 1st. While we are yet to see any definitive price for the transfer, the winger reportedly commanding a fee of £5.2million with add-ons, with the Argentine club in line to receive a reported 20% of any future transfer fee for the 18-year-old.

Scott Carson: An important figure within the dressing room with his leadership and character, Carson completed a free transfer to the club on a one-year deal following the expiration of his Derby County contract.

Jack Grealish: City's marquee signing this summer signed from boyhood club Aston Villa on a six-year deal after the Premier League champions agreed to pay the £100million release clause in the 25-year-old's contract.

OUTGOINGS – PERMANENT

Angelino: City loaned Angelino to RB Leipzig in January 2020, and the two clubs agreed to another loan the following summer, which would become a permanent deal for £16million if the wing-back were to make 12 appearances, with at least five of them coming in the second half of the season for the clause to be triggered. The clause was triggered in February of this year.

Lukas Nmecha: Wolfsburg completed the signing of Nmecha for a reported £11million, with City also including a 15% sell-on clause and a buyback clause for the striker.

Jack Harrison: After spending three years on loan at Elland Road, Leeds completed the signing of winger Jack Harrison from City for a fee reported to be between £11million and £15million.

Ivan Ilic: Hellas Verona completed the signing of Ilic from City after the Serbian midfielder enjoyed a loan spell at the club last season. Ilic joined the club for a reported fee between £6.4million and £8.5million, with City also including a 25% sell-on clause.

Adrian Bernabe: Following the expiration of his City contract, Bernabe joined Parma in Serie B, linking up with Enzo Maresca, who guided City's Elite Development Squad to the Premier League 2 title.

Felix Nmecha: Following the expiration of his City contract, Nmecha joined his big brother Lukas at Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

Joe Hodge: Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of the 18-year-old midfielder on a three-year deal – there are no reports as to whether a transfer fee is involved or whether the Republic of Ireland youth international has moved on following the expiration of his City contract.

Louie Moulden: 19-year old goalkeeper Moulden joined Wolves earlier in the summer following the expiration of his City contract.

Harvey Griffiths: Wolves have also signed 17-year-old midfielder Griffiths for a fee between £350,000 and £500,000.

Alpha Dionkou: Granada have completed the signing of 19-year-old right-back Dionkou on a four-year deal from City and have announced that the player will spend the first year of that deal on loan at San Fernando CD.

Daniel Grimshaw: Blackpool have signed 23-year-old goalkeeper Grimshaw on a free transfer following the expiration of City contract.

Eric Garcia: Barcelona completed the free signing of the 20-year-old early in the summer following long-standing interest after the centre-back left La Masia to join City in 2017. Garcia featured for the first-team regularly prior to making clear that he would not be extending his contract at the club amidst interest from the Nou Camp and the arrival of Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias last summer.

Sergio Aguero: Barcelona also completed the free signing of Sergio Aguero following the expiration of his City contract and 10 glittering years at the club, which will be immortalised outside of the Etihad Stadium with a statue alongside the newly-revealed ones of Vincent Kompany and David Silva.

OUTGOINGS – LOANS

Marlos Moreno: 24-year-old Moreno has joined K.V. Kortrijk in the Belgian top-flight on a season-long loan from City, after impressing on loan at City Football Group side Lommel SK last season. The forward has experienced a torrid time since joining City from Atlético Nacional as a highly-rated talent, with the majority of loan moves not coming off for the Colombian. He'll look to build upon his performances for Lommel last season.

Ante Palaversa: K.V. Kortrijk signed 21-year-old midfielder Palaversa on loan from City in January of this year, and it looks as though that agreement has been extended until the end of the current season.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis: Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht completed the signing of Harwood-Bellis on a season-long from City following a reported request for the 19-year-old central defender from Kompany himself.

Dario Sarmiento: Girona have also completed the signing of Sarmiento, with the exciting Argentine forward joining on a season-long loan.

Pablo Moreno: Girona have re-signed Moreno on a season-long after the striker spent the last campaign at the club – the 18-year-old took part in City's preseason this summer.

Yangel Herrera: City had hoped to earn around £20million from a permanent sale of Herrera, who impressed on loan at Granada last season – but the midfielder's leg injury may have scuppered those plans, with the 23-year-old joining Espanyol on loan for the duration of the season.

Yan Couto: SC Braga completed the season-long signing of Couto from City – the 19-year-old is highly regarded and won right-back of the season in the Spanish second division with Girona last season.

Kluiverth Aguilar: Fellow CFG side Lommel SK completed the signing of Aguilar on loan from City for the season.

Daniel Arzani: Lommel completed the season-long loan signing of 22-year-old forward Arzani, who featured in the Tokyo Olympics for Australia.

Thomas Agyepong: Lommel completed the loan signing of 24-year-old forward Agyepong in October of last year until the end of the 2020/21 season, and this appears to have been extended to the end of this season.

Mohammed Aminu: Similarly to Agyepong, Lommel signed 21-year-old forward Aminu on loan until the end of the 20/21 season, and this, too, looks to have been extended to the end of the current campaign.

Diego Rosa: Having completed a move from Gremio to City earlier this year, 18-year-old midfielder Rosa immediately moved out on loan to Lommel and looks to be spending the remainder of the current campaign on loan at the club, after being invited to spend preseason with Pep Guardiola's team over the summer.

Issa Kabore: ESTAC Troyes, who joined CFG last year, have signed 20-year-old right-back Kabore on a season-long from City, who signed the player from K.V. Mechelen in September 2020, with the player remaining on loan at the club for the duration of last season.

Patrick Roberts: Troyes have also signed Patrick Roberts on a season-long from City, with this looking as though being the last loan move of his City career with the 24-year-old not extending his contract beyond the end of the season.

Philippe Sandler: 24-year-old Dutch central defender Sandler has also moved to the newly-promoted Ligue 1 side on a season-long loan and could be heading for a City exit at the end of the season, too, as he approaches the end of his City contract. However, unlike Roberts, this remains unconfirmed at the moment.

Erik Palmer-Brown: 24-year-old American central defender Palmer-Brown has also joined the Ligue 1 side on a season-long loan from City.

Tommy Doyle: Second division German side Hamburger SV have completed the season-long loan of 19-year-old midfielder Doyle, who has been part of Pep Guardiola's first-team squad over the past two seasons.

Ko Itakura: Second division German side Schalke have signed 24-year-old central defender Itakura on a season-long with a purchase option between £3.4million and £5million included in the deal.

Morgan Rogers: Championship side Bournemouth have completed the season-long loan signing of Rogers with the presence of differing purchase options depending on whether the Cherries are promoted to the Premier League for next season – more money being paid upfront if they are, and less if they're not. The 19-year-old winger impressed on loan with Lincoln City last term.

Pedro Porro: Sporting CP signed 21-year-old right-back Porro on a two-season loan with a purchase option last summer, so the player is entering the second year of that agreement this campaign and the current Portuguese league champions will likely trigger the clause given the Spaniard's impressive displays.

Filip Stevanovic: Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen have signed winger Stevanovic on a two-season loan deal. The 18-year-old Serbian is highly regarded.
