Ferran Torres scores for Spain, Alex Zinchenko captains Ukraine - International Roundup (28/3/21)
The international games are in full-flow this week and today's games saw several blues in action for their nations. Aleks Zinchenko captained his Ukraine side against Finland, our England quartet started in their win over Albania and Ferran Torres scored in Spain's dramatic comeback win over Georgia.
Albania 0-2 England:
Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker and John Stones all started England's second World Cup qualifying game against Albania in the Three Lions' second qualifying game of Group I. Phil Foden played 81 minutes before being replaced by Jesse Lingard but there was no such luck for Raheem, John or Walker who played the full ninety to Guardiola's dismay. England host Poland at Wembley on Wednesday next to cap off the international break.
Georgia 1-2 Spain
Ferran Torres scored the equaliser as Spain dramatically beat Georgia 2-1 in their World Cup qualifier after a late winner stole the three points. Eric Garcia and Ferran played the full ninety minutes whilst Rodri was an unused substitute. Spain now hosts Kosovo on Wednesday night to cap off their qualifying fixtures until after the European Championships.
Northern Ireland 1-2 USA:
Zack Steffen started for the USA as they made consecutive wins with a 2-1 win over Northern Ireland, days after beating Jamaica 4-1 in another friendly. Zack should be heading back to Manchester now after capping off this international break with two victories.
Ukraine 1-1 Finland
Oleksandr Zinchenko started and captained Ukraine as they drew with Finland in their second World Cup qualifying game. Ukraine host Kazakhstan on Wednesday night in their final qualifier before the European Championships in June.
Romania 0-1 Germany
Ilkay Gundogan started and played the full ninety for the second time in four days as Germany beat Romania in their second World Cup qualifier. Germany next host North Macedonia on Wednesday in their final qualifying game.
