Halil Umut Meler will referee Manchester City's Champions League second leg vs Sporting Lisbon
Turkish referee Halil Umut Meler will take charge of City's 'dead rubber' Champions League last 16 second leg against Sporting Lisbon at the Etihad Stadium, in which City have a 5-0 first leg lead.
HALIL UMUT MELER
The fairly inexperienced Champions League referee - with just three matches on his all-time record - does have experience of refereeing Manchester City in a dead rubber Champions League match (just a coincidence, we're sure). The 35 year old was the man in the middle for the blues' final group game of last season's Champions League - where City has already booked their place in the last 16 of the competition and topped the group - but that didn't stop City from beating Marseille 3-0.
