Jarred Gillett appointed referee for Manchester City vs Fulham in the FA Cup Fourth Round
Jarred Gillett has been designated referee for Manchester City's fourth-round FA Cup tie against Championship table-toppers Fulham. The fixture is scheduled for Saturday 5th February, with a 3 pm (GMT) kick-off.
Jarred Gillett
Gillett takes charge of only his second FA Cup tie this weekend after making his debut while refereeing the Chelsea vs Huddersfield fixture earlier this season. The Australian made history in 2021 after becoming the first person from overseas to referee in the Premier League.
As a result of his minimal experience in England, City have yet to play in a fixture where he has been in charge – thereby having no significant history or relationship with the club or the fans.
However, Gillett was in charge of VAR in the Blues' 2-1 away victory over Arsenal – a fixture which saw Gillet fall under some scrutiny, especially from Arsenal fans, after he refused to entertain any penalty claims following the collision between Martin Ødegaard and Ederson in the first half.
