Joao Cancelo assists vital go-ahead goal in Portugal comeback win - International Roundup (30/3/21)

Another day, another day of City international fixtures. Today saw Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo start their third consecutive Portugal game and De Bruyne finally earn a rest for Belgium.

Luxembourg 1-3 Portugal

Portugal has a whole plethora of talent available to them in their national squad but it was our trio of Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo who were included in the starting XI for their third consecutive World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night. After playing a total of 180 minutes out of a possible 180 the trio was afforded no rest as Fernando Santos forgot he had different players at his disposal, instead of overusing three players who have to constantly play three games a week at club level already. Joao Cancelo assisted Cristiano's goal to make it 2-1 to Portugal whilst he and Dias all played the ninety minutes. Bernardo played sixty-eight minutes before being replaced by Joao Palhinha.

Belgium 8-0 Belarus:

After starting their first two qualifying games, Kevin De Bruyne was an unused substitute as Belgium beat Belarus 8-0 in their final qualifying game of the international break. The Belgian, along with our Portuguese players, will now be expected to head back to Manchester and warm-up for the upcoming weekend fixture against Leicester City.

Kevin ended the break with a goal, against Wales, and an assist, against the Czech Republic.
