Kevin Friend appointed as referee for Manchester City vs Watford
Kevin Friend will take charge of Manchester City's Premier League game against Watford at the weekend. This will be City's third consecutive home fixture in the league, as they face off against the division's 19th place side. The game will be played on Saturday 23rd of April, kicking off at 15:00 BST.
This will be Friend's second game in charge involving City this season, with his last coming in a 4-1 win for the Blues against Brighton at the Amex Community Stadium. Friend brandished 5 yellow cards in that game, with three being shown to City players. He also awarded a penalty to Brighton.
Friend's most recent involvement in a City game was last weekend when he took charge of fourth official duties in the FA Cup semi-final defeat against Liverpool. He was also referee in the FA Cup final back in 2019, where the blues ran out rampant winners by 6-0 against the Hornets.
The 50-year-old Englishman has taken charge of the refereeing duties in 14 Premier League games this season, in which he has shown 65 yellow cards, 2 red cards, and awarded 5 penalties.
