Man City to include several clauses in deals taking Samuel Edozie and Juan Larios to Southampton

Southampton are set to sign Manchester City youngsters Samuel Edozie and Juan Larios, with the Premier League champions set to include a number of clauses in the deals taking the players to St. Mary's Stadium.

News emerged via Mike McGrath of The Telegraph on Wednesday afternoon that Edozie to Southampton had a chance of happening ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline, with the Saints' Head of Senior Recruitment, former City Head of Academy Recruitment Joe Shields, having worked with the winger previously.

Following Shields' move to the South Coast, Romeo Lavia and Gavin Bazunu completed permanent moves from the Etihad Stadium to Ralph Hasenhuttl's side, whilst the likes of Liam Delap, James McAtee, and Issa Kabore have also been linked with the club – although the three players have completed loan moves to Stoke City, Sheffield United, and Marseille, respectively.

Edozie had been linked heavily with a move to Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the window, but the winger's move to the Bundesliga side failed to materialise, and now the 19-year-old looks set to Southampton for a fee between £8 million and £10 million, according to some reports – although the exact fee remains to be confirmed.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that as well as Edozie, 18-year-old academy left-back Larios would be joining the Premier League side renowned for their development of young players, with City maintaining a buy-back clause on both players.

Dan Sheldon of The Athletic reports that the Blues are likely to include a number of clauses in the deals taking the two players to Southampton, such as a buy-back clause, sell-on clause and the opportunity to match any future bids – which are clauses City included in the permanent transfers of Bazunu, Lavia and Aro Muric.

Elsewhere, Ante Palaversa has joined City Football Group side Troyes in Ligue 1 on a permanent deal from City. The 22-year-old Croatian midfielder spent last season on loan at K.V. Kortrijk.
