Manchester City to learn Erling Haaland's future in next weeks
'My father said to me one day "is it white or blue for you?"' as the old saying goes, right? Well, regardless it is a question Erling Haaland will have to provide a answer to in the next weeks...
Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund is Manchester City's primary target in the transfer window this summer and the blues will know fairly soon whether they have got their man or will once again have to revert to 'plan B'. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic this is a straight shoot-out between Real Madrid and Manchester City, and that shoot-out will be won in the next few weeks.
A €75m release clause comes in to play this summer and that seems to be too good for City to turn their noses up at and have gone all in on the superstar striker. Manchester City rather anti-climatically missed out on their man last summer when Harry Kane announced he was staying put at Tottenham late on (too late for a 'plan B') in the transfer window, rendering City striker-less.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona are out of the picture according to Ornstein, and this has now come down to a personal choice for the 21 year old between Los Blancos and the Citizens. Real Madrid also want Kylian Mbappe (obviously) - they should get their man on a free this summer from Paris Saint-Germain, and want the Nord to partner the World Cup winning forward next season.
Real were believed to be willing to let Haaland consider staying at Dortmund next season in order to let Karim Benzema's contract run down and get him in as a direct replacement, but will likely welcome Haaland now in order to avoid City having a free run at their primary transfer target.
Manchester City do not want to get embroiled in another saga again - unwilling to be involved if this drags on past the the time-scale that Haaland's camp have indicated - other targets will be pursued if this is the case. If all goes to plan, City or Real will receive the news that they want in the next few weeks and all that will stand between them and their man is time and (a lot of) money.
