Mateu Lahoz returns to referee Manchester City vs. Club Brugge
Updated: Nov 2, 2021
Pep Guardiola's favourite match official, the infamous Mateu Lahoz has been appointed by UEFA to take on Manchester City's Champions League Group Stage matchday four tie vs. Club Brugge.
MATEU LAHOZ
#LahozReturns to Manchester just months after he refereed City's biggest Champions League game to date in the 20/21 final back in May - whose appointment for that game was met with derision by the entirety of City's fanbase - this one perhaps more lowkey. A week which has seen City get knocked out of the Carabao Cup and then lose at home to Crystal Palace would have had Pep Guardiola saying 'What next? Mateu Lahoz to referee our next game?' At least it's not PSG, Pep! The veteran Spanish official has taken charge of five City games in the Champions League, with the blues winning the first three, and losing the last two against English opposition in Liverpool and Chelsea. Hopefully City prove to be just too good to undergo any outside influences this time.
