OFFICIAL: Erling Haaland to join Manchester City for £51m
Manchester City have announced that they have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Erling Haaland, with the Norwegian to join the current Premier League champions on July 1st. The club state that the transfer remains subject to them finalising terms with the player, but it is understood that an agreement has already been reached.
First revealed by Fabrizio Romano, it has emerged that it cost City just £51.3million (€60m) to activate the release clause in the 21-year-old's Dortmund contract – significantly lower than the widely reported £63million (€75m).
Agent fees and signing bonuses are expected to take the total price up to £85.4million (€100m), according to Pol Ballus in The Times.
Haaland is expected to sign a deal until the summer of 2027 with the Blues, earning similar to the club's top earners, including Kevin De Bruyne, at around £375,000/£400,000 per week.
