Orel Grinfeld appointed referee for Manchester City vs Sevilla in the Champions League
Orel Grinfeld of Israel will referee Manchester City's final Champions League group stage game against Sevilla at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, and City's first of four home games this November before the World Cup gets underway.
OREL GRINFELD
Orel Grinfeld has refereed Manchester City once before, and made quite a name for himself, considering the game consisted of six goals - with the blues beating Atalanta 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium in 2019. Grinfeld awarded Atalanta a penalty 28 minutes in for a Fernandinho foul, and then awarded City a penalty a ten minutes later, both of which were dispatched. But more notably, Orel Grinfeld's most notorious contribution was to send Phil Foden off for two incredibly harsh yellow cards, both just foul worthy, which left Pep Guardiola perplexed on the touchline, visibly telling the fourth official "I was right!" after Foden's first and only red card in his career so far.
