Reports: Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden return to Manchester City training

Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden are set to return to first team training this week and could be in the matchday squad this weekend, according to Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News.

Good things come in twos - first came back to back 5-0 home wins in the Premier League for Manchester City - now two PFA award winners are on the verge of making their comebacks. The back-to-back PFA Player of the Year in Kevin De Bruyne and the PFA Young Player of the Year Phil Foden are due back in training this week for the reigning Premier League champions.

Both players sustained injuries whilst representing their countries at the European Championships in the summer, and although De Bruyne did make a brief return coming off the bench against Tottenham on the opening day of the Premier League, he hasn't played a minute of City's last two matches and subsequently wasn't included in Roberto Martinez's latest Belgium squad.

Fear not though (not that you were fearing, with City racking up ten goals, conceding zero, and Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus all excelling for Guardiola's men) the two superstar midfielders are returning to training this week, and City could call on both if need's must against Leicester on the weekend. Both players could be set for a place on the bench if everything goes smoothly on their return to training this week, according to Stuart Brennan.

Manchester City are set to kick off their Champions League campaign next Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium against Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig and will take part in three competitions over the next month, with a daunting trio of away fixtures against Chelsea, PSG, and Liverpool coming just before the next international break. It's all heating up, and the return of Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden to bolster City's squad could not have come at a better time for Pep Guardiola.
