Reports: Manchester City loanee recalled for a month of training

Manchester City have recalled Diego Rosa from Lommel SK to train with the team for the next month before returning to Belgium for the start of the competitive campaign.

Freelance football journalist Sven Claes reports that Diego Rosa will train with City for the next four weeks before returning to City Football Group side Lommel, where he has played on loan since the start of 2021 after the Premier League champions signed him from Brazilian side Gremio.

Last summer, City agreed to a deal worth up to £21million with Gremio, according to the Manchester Evening News, for the then 17-year-old central midfielder, which could only be completed after the player turned 18 that October, under Fifa rules.

Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News broke down the structure of the deal, writing that City paid £2.65million upfront and would add another £1.75million in January 2021 upon the completion of the deal, followed by another £800,000 in January 2022 -- £3.5million is owed by City to Gremio if the Brazil youth international gets promoted to the City first-team, with £4million owed for every ten first-team games he plays - up to thirty games.

Rosa shared a picture of his view in Manchester this morning to his Instagram stories, but this has since been deleted. However, the player has been sharing stories from friends who have screenshotted Claes' tweet and article in celebration.

City clearly regard the youngster, who can also play in defensive midfield, as a player with immense potential after agreeing to shell out a potential fee of up to £21million, and recalling him to train with Pep Guardiola's squad for the month only goes to prove how highly rated he is within the offices at the City Football Academy.

Rosa made seven appearances in the Belgian second division for Lommel last season after joining in January.
