Reports: Manchester City not interested in Antoine Griezmann

Reports from various outlets across Europe have linked Barcelona's Antoine Greizmann to Manchester City over the past week, but a report from a well-sourced journalist have quashed those claims.

Last week, Santi Aouna and Aurelien Leger-Moec of Foot Mercato in France reported that, according to their information, City had emerged for Barcelona's Antoine Greizmann, with the pair writing that Pep Guardiola had contacted the forward.

Aouna and Leger-Moec claim that with Tottenham's asking price for Harry Kane cooling City's interest in the England captain, Greizmann could be an alternative option and a solution to their striker search.

Barcelona are in clear financial disarray, and it's been suggested that they would need to offload players like the former Atletico Madrid man, who is claimed to be on a mammoth wage, to register their new signings like Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia, among others, and re-sign Lionel Messi to a new deal.

Talk of Greizmann being courted by clubs in various newspapers seems all too convenient given his agents are probably looking at shopping their client, with Barcelona looking to cash in and create some financial wiggle-room.

One thing we can say for certain, though, is that he won't be joining City, with Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News reporting today that Barcelona have been made aware that City are not interested in signing the 30-year-old this summer.

The possibility of player swap deals involving Greizmann and/or Sergi Roberto has been mooted in the media and by some Barca fans, with Barcelona linked with Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, and Aymeric Laporte at various points this summer, but City last month briefed they had no desire to negotiate swaps with the Catalan side, with Jack Gaughan of Mail Sport writing that City would resist attempts to manufacture swap deals.
