Reports: Oleksandr Zinchenko determined to land new Manchester City deal despite La Liga interest

Oleksandr Zinchenko is once again caught up in transfer rumours according to a report from Martin Blackburn of The Sun.

According to the report, Real Betis are interested in a transfer deal involving the midfielder turned left-back. With Joao Cancelo retaking the starting left-back position, Zinchenko has seen his role diminished this season, with only 12 appearances across all competitions.

Betis, who are currently managed by Manuel Pellegrini, currently sit third in La Liga.

It was less than a year ago during the run-up to the Champions League final that it had appeared as though Cancelo had lost his guaranteed spot after Zinchenko began to be featured more prominently. However, that has now changed.

The Ukrainian international has two and a half years left on his contract and wants to fight both for his place in the squad, as well as an extension of his current deal.

According to the report, other clubs across Europe are also on alert regarding Zinchenko’s situation. But after already letting Ferran Torres leave for Barcelona, Pep Guardiola is unlikely to want yet another departure.

This is not the first time the 25-year-old has rejected interest from Betis. Back in the summer of 2018, the Ukrainian international was reportedly being eyed for a loan by the Seville based club and also turned down a £16m move to Wolverhampton.
