Simon Hooper appointed as referee for Southampton vs Manchester City
Simon Hooper has been chosen to referee the Premier League match between Southampton and Manchester City this coming weekend. The match will be played at Saint Mary's Stadium on Saturday the 22nd of January at 17:30.

Hooper has only ever refereed one Manchester City game in his career, a 3-1 away win for the Blues over Watford in December 2021. A night that saw Bernardo Silva attain a classy brace.
The 39 year old has refereed 18 matches across all competitions this season and has produced 69 yellow cards in that time, an average of 3.8 bookings per match. In these matches he has also handed out one red card, and awarded 4 penalties.
Darren England has been chosen as the man to take charge of VAR on the night, England refereed the 4-1 victory over Swindon at the start of January.
