Stuart Attwell is appointed referee for Manchester City vs. Everton
Updated: Nov 19, 2021
Manchester City return to Premier League action on Sunday and it is also a return of sorts for Stuart Attwell after his 'controversial' performance when City played Brighton away last season.
STUART ATTWELL
Well, well, well, another controversial refereeing appointment you could say after Antonio Mateu Lahoz was appointed to take charge of City's Champions League game against Club Brugge - this time it is the return of Stuart Attwell, who you might remember from dismissed Joao Cancelo and somehow didn't send off Alireza Jahanbakhsh for a knee high studs up challenge as City threw away a two goal lead to lose 3-2 against Brighton at the Amex last season. Attwell has refereed City a total of 15 times, with City winning 11 of them - sending off 3 City players in the process.
