"Vincent Kompany WILL manage Manchester City" - Pep Guardiola pre Newcastle Press Conference

Pep Guardiola spoke ahead of Manchester City's return to the Etihad Stadium, after five consecutive away games, against Newcastle in the Premier League this Saturday. The City boss discussed Vincent Kompany, gave some fitness updates, talked Eddie Howe/Newcastle and more.

Eddie Howe and Newcastle:

"Incredible - it happened last season and this season they are taking a step forward, so it looks like they have came to stay. What I have seen lately what they have done all season, it is one of the toughest opponents we have until the end of the season for the quality they do everything brilliant. The threats, transitions, set pieces - best team in the league, many, many things that is why they are there for a long, long time this season."

John Stones and Aymeric Laporte updates:

"They are all trained the last few days, they feel better."

How much is Pep inspired by United winning the Carabao Cup?

"No, nothing..."

Vincent Kompany:

"I am impressed with the consistency [of his Burnley side], Championship is difficult for the amount of games. The consistency so far, it is unbelievable. They are close to promotion again to the Premier League next season and I am delighted for him personally, for his success at Burnley. I think all of us as fans will be happy for him to be back. He will be back sooner or later [at Manchester City], so I think his destiny is to become a manager of Man City, it is written in the stars. It is going to happen, I don't know when but it will. Of course it is the quarter finals of the FA Cup it is an incredible chance to reach the semi finals at Wembley and we will try to compete against Vinnnie and his team."

"I said sooner or later he will be manager for City, when: I don't know, but I am pretty sure. No [I have not spoken to him about it]. It is my feeling, maybe I am wrong. His work ethic, knowledge of the game, a lot of respect, experience doing what he has done is so difficult and he is doing it really, really well. He knows the club, the environment, our fans and what our people need. The destiny is there."

Erling Haaland's agents comments:

"No, I don't answer to agents. No comments."

Javier Tebas' comments:

"No comment. I make a statement to the club and now the lawyers do their job."
